From the Board President
In the last Newsletter the Board stated that with the change in our insurance carrier we would no longer rent a club owned golf cart to any one without a valid drivers license. We have continued to discuss this issue since we were concerned that we had a different policy with regards to carts privately owned.  We sought out legal advice and were advised to adopt one policy.  Beginning on September 1st, young people without a valid drivers license will not be allowed to drive a golf cart on the golf course (privately owned) unless they are accompanied by a person with a valid drivers license.

Two members, Steve Leyda and Gail Jackson have volunteered their time and talent to help the Club with projects or tasks around the Clubhouse.  The Board thanks you and hopefully members will acknowledge their assistance.

In the last Newsletter, we reported the Driving Range was open.  That was a little premature due to the fact that our new septic system had issues in the area of the driving range.  The course superintendent was also trying to have some grass growing on the range.  We hope to correct the problem as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.

Have you noticed the number of ball marks on many of our greens?  The solution is simple when you see one --- FIX IT!!

How Many golfers can fit in a golf cart?  The hot dry weather takes a toll on most golf courses and ours is no exception. Which begs the question, why during this time period do we see so many foursome using four carts?  Doubling up is the right thing to do!

Recently, we have had what you can only call a couple episodes of “stealing” at the Club.  Rest assured that this is a major concern to the Board.  Although, police reports have been filed we hope that any member with any information would contact us.
Donations Continue to Pour In
Donations to SFCC continue to come in and the Board would like to thank and recognize those individuals as we have been doing in past newsletters.  If you see one of these members out at the Club, you may want to extend them a word of thanks.
Monetary donations for the patio furniture are Steve Leyda, David Scism, Andy Eck, Bret Burgess, Matt Burgess, Andrew Braxton, Tom and Mary Ann Burcham, Gifford Lumber Co, Chip and Debbie Peterson, Larry and Colleen Cruse, Fred and Jo Schaper, Chuck Davis, Cecil and Jean Hulsey, Jack and Hilda Bryant, Jim and Carla Shaner.  Monetary Donations for additional lighting in front dining room are Dick and Ann Royer, Anton and Jane Beffa, Ken and Sandra Smith.  Monetary donations for general use are Ann Walker, Ray Murphy, Becky Halter, J.L. and Evelyn Seal, and Bob Manley.  Flowers donated by Ben, Claudia, Jamie, and Katherine King. Clock on pool deck donated by Jeff and Sheila Krekeler and installed by Ben and Jamie King. Thanks also to Dave Black on the speedy demolition of the old Clubhouse.  Thanks to Frank Ward on the trimming and clearing on hole 14

Payment of Dues:
At the annual membership meeting, the Board announced that beginning with this quarter (2nd) they will follow the Club’s by-laws with regards to receiving payment.  Specifically, “any member who is in arrears two months shall forfeit his/her privileges until the dues are paid. If not paid by the end of the third month he/she relinquishes his/her membership”. This will be followed exactly as written.

SFCC Golfing Memberships
The SFCC Board has voted to close the golfing memberships at this time and establish a waiting list.  In order to get on the list, one must fill out an application and date it.  As memberships become available, the Board will review the applications on a first come first served basis according to the date on the application.  If you know of someone wanting to join, please funnel this information to them.  Please note that we will continue to accept Associate memberships which allows use of all the facilities including the restaurant/bar and pool.  An associate may play golf 3 times in a calendar year by paying greens fees.
Birthday Club
SFCC wants to celebrate your birthday with you!  Every month, a postcard will be sent out to members whose birthday falls in the coming month.  You may bring this card into the SFCC Restaurant to redeem it for a ½ price entrée during the month of your birthday.  We want to make sure that all members receive one for their month so if you don’t receive a card within the first week, please contact 756-7574 (or e-mail to gm@sfccgolf.com) and give them your name and your birth date so we may add you to the list!

Golf Cart Rental
SFCC has changed our insurance carrier and when it comes to golf cart rental the following policy applies. "In order to rent a club golf cart you must be 16 years old and have a valid driver’s license"

Pool Rules
Here are some general rules for the pool area. This is not a complete list but just a series of reminders. Please use common sense.  The new pool hours for 2008 will be the exact same as the Clubhouse hours. In other words if the Clubhouse is open then so is the pool. There will be a lifeguard on duty Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 7 pm and Sunday 11 am to 6 pm. Therefore the 3 to 4 hours in the evening that the pool is open without a lifeguard it will be “Swim At Your Own Risk”. There is a sign posted on the temporary orange fence.
All children need to be accompanied by an adult. SFCC is not a babysitting service.
Profanity will not be tolerated in the pool area. Please remember there are “little ears” around.
No Glass of any kind inside the pool gates.
Food at the pool area: Food and drinks can be ordered and purchased in the bar and eaten in the pool area as long as they are in Styrofoam or plastic containers. Please specify to the server that you will be eating inside the pool gates. No Glass of any kind inside the pool gates.
Full wait staff service may be obtained by eating on the covered back porch. There will be a special menu and food / drink service for the back patio from open to close.
Guests will remain at $1 payable at the bar.

Food & Beverage:
Other than Monday, members shall not bring food or beverage to be consumed on Club property. Please comply.

A Series of Reminders:
With the opening of the Golf Season, we need to remind you to make sure you pay at the bar for any guest you bring to play. With the predicted wet spring forecast make sure you follow the directions with regards to golf cart use.
The Clubhouse, Patio, and Pool Area are “smoke free”.
Soft spikes are required on the golf course.
Appropriate attire is requested on the course and in the Clubhouse.

New Rental Policy for the New Clubhouse
The Board of Directors at their last meeting discussed and then set up the following rules/guidelines in renting the new Clubhouse:
1. The Clubhouse will be rented only to SFCC members in good standing.
2. There are two available rental options. A…The rental of the front dining/meeting room or B… The rental of the entire facility. There are no other options.
A. the cost to rent the front dining/meeting room (a maximum of 80 people) the cost will be $100 from Mon-Thurs. The cost will be $250 for the same room on Fri-Sat.
B. The cost to rent the entire Clubhouse any day of the week will be $1500 (a maximum of 200 people).
In addition the Board of Directors will limit the number of times the entire Clubhouse can be rented to12 times in a calendar year with a maximum of 2 two times in a calendar month. The Board tried to balance income earned from renting with the needs of the members to have access to the Clubhouse. All rentals will go through Eric.

Any Help Appreciated
The opening of the new Clubhouse has prompted a number of members to ask if they could give a monetary gift to the Club to be used for furnishings or other needed items. The answer is "Yes" and although we don't have an official "Wish List" developed at this point we are acutely aware of some of our pressing needs. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated. You can contact any board member or drop it off at the clubhouse. Thanks for your interest and support. SFCC Board of Directors
